Iraqi Joint Operations Command dismisses rumors of instability in Nineveh, affirms strong security presence

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Iraqi Joint Operations Command has refuted recent social media claims suggesting security instability in the Nineveh sector, including its western regions and the borders with Syria.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Command labeled these reports as "incorrect and far from reality," emphasizing the robust security measures currently in place across the area.

The statement highlighted ongoing proactive offensive operations by Iraqi security forces against the remnants of ISIS.

"Our heroic units continue their proactive offensive operations and deliver decisive blows against the remaining ISIS terrorist detachments, relentlessly pursuing their defeated and demoralized remnants with the support of our noble and generous people," the Command stated.

The Joint Operations Command underscored that Iraqi security forces, including those from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, as well as the Popular Mobilization Forces, are fully deployed and maintain complete control across all sectors of responsibility.

"The Iraqi border with neighboring countries is witnessing significant developments in terms of forces, fortifications, barriers, towers, technical surveillance resources, cameras, and all necessary combat, technical, and administrative requirements," the statement noted.

A large, well-trained reserve force, proficient in various specialties, is also stationed in these areas, ensuring continued security and stability.

As our heroic units continue their proactive offensive operations and deliver decisive blows against the remaining ISIS terrorist detachments, relentlessly pursuing their defeated and demoralized remnants with the support of our noble and generous people, certain social media sites have circulated reports claiming (the existence of security confusion and instability in the Nineveh sector, its western regions, and along the borders with Syria). This information is incorrect and far from reality.

We affirm that our security forces, including units from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, as well as the Popular Mobilization Forces, are highly deployed and in full control within all sectors of responsibility. The Iraqi border with neighboring countries is witnessing significant developments in terms of forces, fortifications, barriers, towers, technical surveillance resources, cameras, and all necessary combat, technical, and administrative requirements. Additionally, there is a large, well-trained reserve force, proficient in various specialties, positioned in all sectors.

We have observed that certain social media pages are attempting to spread malicious rumors, which are subject to severe legal penalties.

Therefore, we urge accuracy in the dissemination of information and advise that security-related updates be obtained from official sources.
