Kurdistan Democratic Party has 190 candidates for the upcoming general election

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – On Saturday, August 10th, 2024, the Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) arranged a draw in Erbil to distribute numbers to the coalitions, parties and candidates for the sixth turn of Kurdistan Parliamentary elections.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has been assigned number 190 in the upcoming Kurdistan Region Parliamentary election in October 2024.

The draw followed the precedent one, which had previously given 69 numbers to the general seats of the Kurdistan Parliament, however, after the Federal Supreme Court decided to give the last five quota seats, the number of the last five seats was given today.

The independent candidates have been assigned numbered too. 

Depending on the rules at the Iraqi Independent High Election Commission, each list that is participating in Kurdistan parliamentary elections, can have candidates as twice as the seat numbers dedicated to each province. Thus, KDP has 190 candidates for the upcoming general election.

IHEC announced that the sixth round of the Parliamentary elections in Kurdistan Region will be held on October 20th, 2024.

Dividing general seat numbers in the Kurdistan Parliament among the provinces:

1. Erbil: 32 seats

2. Sulaimani: 36 seats

3. Duhok: 24 seats

4. Halabja: 3 seats

(Total: 95 seats)

Proportionate of the quota number of seats in the Kurdistan Parliament among the provinces:

1. Erbil: 2 seats

2. Sulaimani: 2 seats

3. Duhok: 1 seat

4. Halabja: Zero seats
