Iraqi parliament convenes to discuss key legislative bills

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Iraqi parliament is set to meet today, Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm to discuss several significant legislative bills.

Among the key items on the agenda is the second amendment to the 2016 general amnesty law, which will undergo its first and second readings.

The parliament's press office announced, “The Iraqi parliament will meet at 01:00 pm today, Sunday, Aug. 4, for the first and second reading of several bills, the most important of which is the second amendment to the 2016 general amnesty law.”

Additionally, the session will cover the law on the work of lawyers and an air agreement between Iraq and Syria.

Originally, the first reading of the amendments to the general amnesty bill was scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 3, but it was removed from the agenda. Today's session marks a critical opportunity for Iraqi lawmakers to address these pivotal issues.
