ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Abu Asad, a dedicated young man from Wasit Governorate, has been breeding and training wolves for the past 12 years. His unique passion has grown into a lifelong commitment, with dreams of establishing a wolf breeding and training facility in the future.

His deep admiration for these animals stems from their unique qualities, which, according to him, set them apart from other creatures.

Abu Asad now owns a total of 35 wolves, including five females and their numerous pups. “I now have five mother wolves left. There were about 27 cubs, and three remain with me,” he shared.

According to him, wolves possess special traits, such as the ability to sense the supernatural, being naturally clean, and maintaining strict social structures.

"These wolves only eat clean food. I bring them chicken and red meat," he shared with Kurdistan 24.

He holds wolves in high esteem, describing them as animals of royal lineage. "This animal is from the lineage of kings and is the only animal that can kill and see jinn. They are pure and do not engage in incestuous mating. One of their beautiful traits is their devotion to their parents—when the father and mother wolves grow old, their children hunt for them," Abu Asad explained.

Despite the inherent dangers of interacting with such wild animals, Abu Asad’s passion remains unwavering. Wolves, with their captivating presence, have become an integral part of his and his family's daily life.

Mohsen Al-Maksousi, a local citizen from Wasit, remarked to Kurdistan 24, "Abu Asad gave up all his other work to focus on raising wolves. We always see him busy tending to them, bringing them food such as chicken, other meats, and milk.”

The Iraqi wolf, according to those who visit Abu Asad, is known for its strength and muscular build, distinguishing it from wolves found in other Arab countries.

With remarkable courage and dedication, Abu Asad hopes to create a large training and breeding ground where people from Wasit and beyond can come to observe and appreciate these magnificent creatures.
