KDP President Masoud Barzani, Austrian envoy to Iraq discuss bilateral ties

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani on Sunday discussed bilateral ties with Austrian Ambassador to Iraq Andrea Nasi in Erbil’s Pirmam district, according to a statement from Barzani Headquarters.

During the meeting, the Austrian Ambassador to Iraq provided a comprehensive briefing to the delegation on the progress of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Austria, with a particular emphasis on academic collaborations and partnerships between universities, as well as economic and trade ties.

KDP President Barzani expressed his gratitude to the Austrian people and government for their steadfast support and solidarity with the Kurdish cause and advocated for the further enhancement of bilateral relations and friendship between the Kurdistan Region and Austria.

The discussions also encompassed the political landscape in the Kurdistan Region, the upcoming parliamentary elections, and the dynamics between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi Federal Government, focusing on the resolution of existing issues.

Additional topics of concern include the persistent threat of terrorism both globally and regionally, the situation in Sinjar, and the underlying reasons for the unsuccessful implementation of the Sinjar Agreement.
