ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Safeen Dizayee, the head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), emphasized the necessity of implementing the Sinjar Agreement on Sunday.

Dizayee’s comments were made during an event celebrating the release of Rostam Aghala's painting collection, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Yezidi genocide. The event was sponsored by Kurdistan Chronicle magazine.

“We remember an unfortunate day for our nation, the massacre of the Yezidis. The day I heard the news that ISIS attacked the Yezidis and tried to exterminate them, we tried to defend ourselves and protect Kurdistan, while we had nothing to do with the conflict,” Dizayee said.

He also noted that “the sad story of the Yezidis is not over. They live in camps and abroad. We have been facing destruction for many years. While we are proud of living together, some people want to destroy that coexistence in Kurdistan.”

Dizayee concluded by highlighting the ongoing need for international support, stating, “We need the continued assistance of the international community to return Yezidis safely to their areas.”
